Also no mention that BAPS has been accused of human trafficking of Dalit labor to make these possible: https://www.nytimes.com/2021/05/11/nyregion/nj-hindu-temple-india-baps.html

This is just a terrible post and disappointing for this organization. It lacks both any significant knowledge of the history of architecture as well as the many very interesting works for all kind of churches in the last 50 years. Sadly, this reads like a piece by a follower of the invented Hindu cult that is putting up most of these facilities. Often enough with highly questionable labor practices. It would be like a Mormon or B’hai believer covertly writing that there places of worship were superior.

At the time it was built, the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Lilburn, Georgia, was the largest Hindu temple outside of India.

Is there anything comparable happening in Christianity? Besides maybe the St. Peter’s Monastery in Montana, I’m not aware of any Christian works to build a new church in the old style. Maybe the Sagrada Família in Spain? Neither seems to meet the ambitions of this temples.

You don't think the Sagrada Familia meets these ambitions?

Partly. It was started a century ago, and it’s a lot easier for a town to not give up on the half finished giant cathedral they’ve been working on for a century than it is deciding to build a new Cathedral.

Ah, I see what you mean. It's the leftover ambition of a previous era.

Closest I can think of is the Cathedral of Christ the Savour in Moscow. Original destroyed by the Soviets in the 1930s on ideological grounds and rebuilt between 1994-2000 (but don’t think exact replica)

I guess the rebuilding of Norte Dam after the fire also sort of counts
