We in the West should not be so dismissive of China's methods of moving their economy forwards.

We can adapt some of their best ideas to fire up our moribund ways of doing things.

I spend a fair bit of time in China, including several of the cities in this article. Each is an utterly miserable place to live. Soulless, charmless and horribly polluted. Go outside some days, and the air isn't just brown, it's dark brown. Who wants to live and raise a family in a city with four-deck mega-highways? That the authors ignore the human element in making their case for unfettered growth undercuts their entire argument.
