ARIA – the Advanced Research and Invention Agency – is a new scientific funding body in Britain, which launched this week. Its mission to drive science forward with big, bold bets on projects that might otherwise not get funded, and has an £800m budget over the next decade to do so. We interviewed its new chief executive Ilan Gur and its chairman Matt Clifford to better understand what inspired ARIA and what success might look like.
